Posted: Sunday - August 6, 2023

And the winner is . . . Sister Aimee Jenkins of the Danville Ward! For the Summer of Service Bucket Challenge, Sis. Jenkins turned in six service projects she and her family completed.

Her husband is Scott Jenkins, and their 8-year-old daughter is Isabelle. Between them the couple has seven children, three daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren.

They found service to do everywhere, from JustServe to their family to ideas and needs from Sis. Jenkins’s work. Their service including mowing the lawn of a family who was out of town, a collection of dorm supplies for a foster child, treats for their mail carrier, helping a single mom with car troubles, a donation to the local food bank, and their daughter cooking a meal for their family.

On this Missionary Monday, let’s drop in on Mark and Eileen Wiley of Keeling, Virginia, the first senior missionaries to serve from the Danville Virginia Ward.

They are finding their mission rewarding and fun.

The couple entered the Provo MTC on February 27 and are serving in the New Mexico Albuquerque Mission in the Santa Fe area.

The Wileys are assigned to the Santa Fe Stake, which consists of six wards and four branches. They were asked to spend most of their efforts working with the Las Vegas New Mexico Branch, which is small, and takes an hour drive to reach.

Getting To Know Bishop Brandon Stanford

Posted: Sunday - August 6, 2023

Last but not least, we're going to learn more about our newest bishop, Bishop Brandon Stanford of the Burlington Ward.

How did you find Jesus in your life?

I was eleven years old and bored in Sacrament Meeting. So I read the Joseph Smith account and it changed my life. I have never doubted after that. That doesn't mean my testimony is complete. For instance, I have worked for years to develop a greater testimony of the Savior, the Living Christ. And even though I have felt the healing of repentance in my life I wanted to strengthen my faith of Him specifically - and it's taken some time. But this last year it's become more complete and I can feel the Spirit confirming that He truly lives. The scripture states "Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” Testimonies take time, and won't always feel complete. Don't worry. Don't give up. Just keep at it. I'm glad I do.

Getting To Know President Gabe San Martin

Posted: Sunday - August 6, 2023

Today we're going to meet a fairly new member of our stake, and the branch president of the Piedmont Branch, President Gabe San Martin. We're grateful his family moved here!

How did you find Jesus in your life?

I can't remember a time of my life when I didn't believe in the existence of God and Jesus Christ. Growing up, my family and I attended many different churches, until we found the missionaries in the winter of 2004. We had just moved from Chile to New York City for a second time. The lesson on the plan of salvation had a big impact on me. It answered some of the questions that up to that point in my life, I had no answers to. I was baptized in March of 2005 at the age of 16. I was baptized knowing that what I was learning was what had made the most sense to me up to that point. I knew the Church and what it represented was good. My testimony of the Book of Mormon and all the other knowledge and certainty that comes with it didn't come to me until about a year later. It came to me one night as I was reading the Book of Mormon before going to bed. From that moment on, I have known that this is the Church of Jesus Christ restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. That knowledge changed things for me, soon thereafter I found a true desire to serve a mission. I served in the Pocatello Idaho Mission and the deepening of my testimony during that time has served as the foundation for the rest of my life.
