2018 Greensboro Stake Intervals - Gathering & Preparing for His Return

Each quarter do one act of service in each area – Invite, Serve, Bind & Prepare

‘If we knew the Lord were coming tomorrow—what would we do today? We need to make both temporal and spiritual preparations for the events prophesied at the time of His coming.’ Dallin H. Oaks
‘Wherefore be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the Bridegroom—For behold, verily, verily, I say unto you that I come quickly’ D&C 33:17-18

Invite your friends and neighbors to learn more about the church & it’s doctrine.
There are many events and experiences planned in our stake that will be opportunities to invite.

  • Make the week of Easter extra special this year with daily observances & reading of the last week of the Savior’s life, maybe even a Passover dinner—invite others to join with you and see how important Easter is to Latter-day Saints.
  • Gladys Knight and the Saints United choir will be coming to our stake for an evening of inspiring music & testimony
  • Join us for a stake-wide Olympics event for families with both competitive and fun sporting events
  • Study as a family in FHE each of the 9 Doctrinal Mastery doctrines from seminary—share these concepts with friends

We have many opportunities to serve within our stake & through our callings, but let’s focus our service for 2018 on our neighbors & communities. How can we serve them & show them we care?

  • Consider a Just Serve project. A project that you have not done before.
  • How can we lend a hand to our neighbors? Something beyond an occasional friendly greeting.
  • There is much need in our schools, hospitals & old folks homes. What can we do to make a difference?

Temple & family history work binds generations together & brings us closer as a family. How can you bring these saving blessings to a greater circle of family members?

  • Go to the temple in Columbia, SC, quarterly if possible.
  • We have 2 youth baptismal dates for 2018—June 16th & Dec 15th—don’t miss this opportunity
  • Index 50 names, submit 5 names for temple work, complete your 4 generation temple chart, record your life history
  • Gather & share memories from more senior family members, engage your youth & children in this saving work

We have been counseled to prepare for times of trouble & uncertainty. We need both physical & spiritual preparation for the last days. Is your family ready?

  • Make a plan & act on it to get a year’s supply of food, water & fuel.
  • Create & discuss an emergency plan with your family
  • Get out of debt, create & follow a budget, take a Self-Reliance class, develop an emergency fund of 6 months income
